Count us among the curious who have walked past the storefront of 146 Salem St. in the past couple weeks and wondered aloud what is going on there.
The new window display indicates that a store called “Whaddya Need?” will be opening sometime soon. The promotional materials in the window indicate that the business will offer a wide range of services for the busy consumer including cleaning, organizing and dog walking. We didn’t think the business was actually open yet, but last week we spied two different people riding Segways out of the store at different times. The same promotional flyers also tout a website, www.whaddyaneedboston.com, that doesn’t seem to be live yet.
Give us a shout if you have more information about this new North End business!
Whaddya Need?, 148 Salem Street is open for business. Just need to call the number and tell them what you need.
Hi,
Its a business offering segway rentals. The two guys who opened the place are very friendly, I’d recommend you stop in and say hello.

Actually Dirk,
The segway guys just rent the back of the store. They are nice and friendly, but they own a company called Route 9 Segway rentals.
Whaddya Need doesnt rent segways, its a bunch of services- like handymen services, techsupport, maidservice, babysitting, dog walking and they also do local food deliveries, have a late night menu etc. etc.
The owners there are nice too, two young guys and a cute chick (disclosure: cute chick is me)
Drop by dirk and grab our number, Im sure theres something that you need.
Gia Marie, You got a nice little write-up in Improper Bostonian (Oct 22, Pg.8) that sent me looking for you — but your website doesn’t seem to be working yet. This is the only place I’ve found you online. Just FYI, I’m probably not the only one who looks for info on a website first instead of calling the number — hope you’re not missing out on business this way!
I’ll hold on to the number for a while, and keep an eye out for the website. Good luck!

They do pretty much anything… They will pick up your prescription, get your book from the library, get you some beers, and then come back to your house and wash your toilet. They’ll even come in and just sit with you and watch TV if that’s what you want! They plan parties, they’ll walk your dog, and they’ll even provide technical support for your computer, tv, or cell phones. Pretty much, your wish is their command.
The woman that works in there is a bit abrasive and seems a bit fake and uneasy around people… But other than her, the store is a wonderful idea!
